Client:

 

Our client is an endowment in the Boston area, and they are seeking an Investment Officer to work on a small team that invests across all asset classes. This is a generalist team structure, and manager relationships can include those in private and public equity, venture capital, absolute return/hedge fund strategies, credit, renewables, and real estate.

 

Opportunity:

 

This person will report to the Chief Investment Officer, and is expected to collaborate across the team, including mentoring Analysts and summer interns from the College.  The portfolio is concentrated and has low turnover. As such, successful candidates will demonstrate a strong interest in spending time on the current portfolio and will exhibit a long-term mindset.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Sourcing, conducting due diligence, selecting, and the ongoing monitoring and relationship development related to both existing and prospective investment managers in a variety of asset classes

·         Assisting in the preparation of materials for the Investment Committee and other high-level audiences

·         Assist in the day-to-day management and mentorship of the investment analysts and interns in the group, helping to prioritize their work and research focus

·         Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College’s efforts to build a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment

·         A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and contribute to an inclusive environment for all    

·         Performs other projects/responsibilities as requested

 

Qualifications:

 

·         5-10 years of related investment experience

·         Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA, CFA and/or CAIA designations are preferred

·         Ability to conduct primary research on and analyze complex investment strategies, people, and firms

·         Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities

·         Deep curiosity around investment managers, people, teams, organizations, and capital markets

·         Mission-driven / mission- oriented, with a long-term focus on the College’s success

·         Enthusiastic, hardworking, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and within a team

·         Strong sourcing and networking skills

·         Superior oral and written communication skills

·         Willing and able to travel to meet with both prospective and existing investment managers
