The goal of the Vector Institute is simple: make Ontario – and Canada – a world leader in Artificial Intelligence. A new, independent non-profit, the Vector Institute will build out the AI ecosystem in Ontario, developing and attracting the world’s best machine learning and deep learning experts, and creating an unrivalled convergence of research, investment, entrepreneurialism, and economic growth. With strong support and partnerships in place with academic and research institutions, the provincial and federal governments, and over 30 private sector sponsors, the Vector Institute is ready for a determined and visionary leader – a CEO to spearhead initiatives in a transformational area of scientific, academic, and commercial endeavour that will shape our world over the next generation.

You are experienced in leading a complex, multi-disciplinary and knowledge-intensive organization with multiple stakeholders. Excited by research and discovery science, you have the breadth of vision to: craft strategic and operational plans that will deepen the pool of expert machine and deep learning talent through training and attraction; develop research and commercialization capability; collaborate with world-leading researchers in other universities and institutions; and build an organization that is as nimble and responsive as you are. Tireless, enthusiastic, and disciplined, you thrive amongst high performers, inspiring them to deliver their finest work.

As the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Vector Institute, you will report to an accomplished Board and infuse the organization with an aspirational ethos. Leader and catalyst, you will ensure the Institute delivers world-leading research, graduates the most deep learning and machine learning experts in the world, and propels an AI supercluster that drives the economies of Toronto, Ontario, and Canada.
